We honor the life of John Lucky Luckadoo, who passed away at 103, the last surviving pilot of the legendary 100th Bomb Group, known as the Bloody Hundredth.

As a young B 17 pilot during World War II, Luckadoo flew dangerous missions over Europe, navigating intense anti aircraft fire and relentless aerial combat. The risks were enormous, and many of his fellow airmen did not return. He survived those missions, carrying with him the memory of the crews who were lost.

After the war, he dedicated much of his later life to sharing their stories, ensuring that the sacrifice of the 100th Bomb Group would never fade from history. His voice became a living bridge to a generation defined by duty and resilience.

With his passing, another direct link to that era is gone, but his legacy remains strong. His courage, leadership, and commitment to remembrance continue to inspire.

Major Luckadoo has completed his final flight. May we remember him and the crew he served alongside with gratitude and respect.
