We remember Rhiannon Ross, a United States Navy aviator and instructor pilot who lost her life in service at just 30 years old.

Originally from Wixom, Michigan, Lieutenant Ross dedicated herself to a life of discipline, leadership, and responsibility. She earned her wings and committed her career to training future military aviators, helping guide the next generation through the demanding path of flight training.

On October 23, 2020, she departed Naval Air Station Whiting Field on a routine training mission in a T-6B Texan II. She was flying with U.S. Coast Guard Ensign Morgan Garrett, a student under her instruction. The aircraft tragically crashed near Foley, Alabama, and both aviators lost their lives in the line of duty.

Lieutenant Ross is remembered not only for her service, but for her mentorship, integrity, and commitment to excellence. She trained others with patience and purpose, carrying forward the highest standards of her profession.

Though her life was far too short, her legacy lives on in the aviators she helped shape and in the values she represented. We honor her service, we remember her sacrifice, and we hold her memory with respect and gratitude.
